# Before you submit

- Read the employer's file type, page and size requirements first.
- Verify your name, email and optional phone. City and state are usually enough for this layout; remove any detail you do not want to share.
- Search for bracket prompts and the fictional-example label. Remove all sample names, companies, metrics and references from your own copy.
- Check role titles, dates, skills and every result against your actual experience. Use the vacancy's language only when it accurately describes your work.
- Review the first and last lines of every page. No clipped text, extra blank page or heading stranded without its content.
- Close and reopen the saved DOCX. Export PDF and open that exact file. Confirm fonts, page breaks and visible text.
- Select and copy PDF text into a plain-text editor. Check contact information and section order. This is a readability check, not ATS certification.
- Use a clear filename such as Firstname_Lastname_Resume.pdf. Follow the portal's format instructions even if they request DOCX instead.
- Send references only when asked, with their prior consent. Do not include private third-party contact information in an unrequested upload.
- Retain your own local copy of the submitted version. No hiring or interview outcome is guaranteed.
